18.LIGHTLY

 

Do you ever feel like something is spinning YOU around? Like you are hooked on or in to something that won’t let you go, which seems to pull you this way, then the other, and then the other . . . and through it all, it seems that you have no choice. You feel held.

It could be that you feel caught in to a specific situation, dependent on a specific outcome, or attached to a specific person (and remember, judgement is attachment too) . . . Alongside this feeling of being hooked in to something, or tied to someone, there is a sense of urgency, of tightness, of wanting, of needing, of controllingThe thing you feel tied to, hooked to, seems to be outside yourself and just beyond reach, and you are kept held. There seems to be a you and an it, and IT seems to be calling the shots, pulling you this way, and that way, and the other. It feels as though you are wrestling with a fixed, rigid, stubborn chain . . .

Pause. You have a choice.

STEP BACK and notice that it is you that has tied this very chain, and that it is only you who is holding on to it. The more you sense that IT is holding you captive, the tighter it is that YOU are holding on.

From time to time we all experience feelings of tightness, of restriction, of being consumed, of anger, of frenzy, of being held. And yet, as soon as we step back and recognise that it is our own hand that grips so tightly around this ‘it‘, then we can begin to open our palms and ‘hold’ life more lightly

This feeling of tightness is our reminder to breathe LIGHTLY. To live with open palms, and allow all things to morphto moveto be in flux, and to reveal.

When we hold, we are only ever holding ourselves stuck. It is US that feels the tightness, the anger, the restriction, and so graciously it is US that has the choice to untie our own selves, and be present with curiosity as everything unfolds in its own time.

Notice when you find yourself making up your mind about how you think it should be, or how you think it will be. Notice when you feel this sense of tightness or restriction around something or someone. Notice when you find yourself fixing up a chain and holding on as if everything depended on it.
