Every day we can, and do, become wrapped up in our own stories. The momentum, the drama, the ‘I, me, mine‘ details and concerns. And every day we are also given the opportunity to open our eyes and see past our own noses to those that stand before us. We can, and do, become so consumed by the seeming importance of own story, and the filter through which we then look, that we forget to simply see the other person as they truly are.
Stop. Take time to really see the other.
Look beyond in wonder at who is behind their eyes, remembering that what lies behind their eyes is behind your eyes also. Take the time to really see another, and as you do, be open to seeing yourself.
All we ever really want from one another is to be seen, and being seen starts with seeing. One of the greatest gifts we can give each other is to take the time to really see, and in so doing allow ourselves to be seen.
See the other as they are, and not as you wish for them to be. DELIGHT in seeing whoever is there in front of you – Their uniqueness, their aliveness, their Spirit. Delight in really seeing them. Be curious.
It’s not about you, it’s not about me, and it’s not about anyones ‘I, me, mine‘ story. It’s about the TOGETHER.
Allow this letter to be a reminder to open your eyes to all those that are around you. And I mean all . . .
Together remember.
Reader — I thank you. I honour you. I see you.
